Man Arrested For Murder Of Maryland Convenience Store Owner

Police have made an arrest in the murder of a Maryland convenience store owner earlier this month.

Anthony Edward Stevens, 48, of Capitol Heights, was charged with first- and second-degree murder, Prince George’s Police announced Friday, March 22.

Detectives believe Stevens attacked Mohammad Hanif, 50, of Annandale, VA, while stealing items from his store on the 900 block of Larchmont Avenue in Capitol Heights on Tuesday, March 5.

Hanif was found suffering from head trauma as officers responded to a report of an unresponsive man at the store around 7:50 a.m. He was taken to a nearby hospital and succumbed to his injuries three days later.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner found Hanif suffered blunt force injuries to his head.

Stevens is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
